Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
For Parents
Does human trafficking really happen in our community?
Yes. Human trafficking happens in every community, including rural and suburban areas. It often looks nothing like what people expect. Many victims are groomed online, through gaming, social media, or relationships that appear normal at first. Trafficking is about control and exploitation, not kidnapping.
What ages are most at risk?
Children and youth of all ages are vulnerable. Traffickers actively target minors, especially those experiencing:
- Loneliness or isolation
- Trauma or instability
- Excessive unsupervised internet access
- A desire for acceptance, love, or belonging
No child is immune—this affects sons and daughters alike.
What are common red flags parents should watch for?
Some warning signs may include:
- Sudden secrecy around devices or new online relationships
- Changes in mood, sleep, or behavior
- New gifts, money, or items with no clear source
- Increased withdrawal from family or trusted adults
- Fear, anxiety, or defensiveness when asked simple questions
Red flags don’t always mean trafficking—but they always mean something needs attention.
What should I do if I suspect my child is being groomed or exploited?
Trust your instincts. If your child is in immediate danger, call 911.
If you are unsure but concerned:
- Preserve evidence (messages, images, usernames)
- Do not confront the suspected trafficker directly
- Reach out for help and guidance

Does your education scare kids?
Our programs are age-appropriate, trauma-informed, and prevention-focused. We speak honestly without sensationalizing. Our goal is not fear—it is awareness, empowerment, and safety.
Why should the Church be involved in this issue?
Human trafficking is a justice issue, a protection issue, and a discipleship issue. Scripture calls us to defend the vulnerable, expose darkness, and care for the broken. This is not a political issue—it is a biblical responsibility.
Is Millstone Ministry faith-based?
Yes. Our work is grounded in biblical principles and scripture, and our motivation is Christ-centered. We approach this work with humility, compassion, and accountability, while remaining respectful of diverse audiences.
What does hosting a seminar involve?
There is no cost to host a seminar. We provide all educational materials and training.
Hosts are asked to:
- Allow 3–4 hours for the program
- Provide a short break (snacks or a meal)
- Understand that some content may be heavy or explicit due to the nature of the topic
Continuing Education Certificates may be available depending on the audience.
Who is the training appropriate for?
Our trainings can be tailored for:
- Parents and caregivers
- Youth and teens
- Church leaders and volunteers
- Educators and professionals
We customize content to fit your audience while maintaining safety and integrity.
Do you work with law enforcement?
Yes. Millstone Ministry works alongside law enforcement, educators, legislators, and community partners. We understand mandated reporting, confidentiality, and survivor-centered responses.
What is Matison’s Love Bags street outreach?
Matison’s Love Bags are part of our street outreach efforts, created in memory of Matison, who lost her life to human trafficking. These bags provide basic necessities, dignity, and connection to individuals still being exploited or seeking help. They are a tangible way to meet people “at the well” with compassion and hope.
Do you help people who are still “in the life”?
Yes. We meet individuals where they are, without judgment. Support may include resources, encouragement, safety planning, and connection to services—when and if they are ready.
Do you rescue victims
Millstone Ministry does not conduct law enforcement rescues. We provide advocacy, support, and coordination with appropriate agencies to help individuals move toward safety and restoration.
Are conversations confidential?
Yes. We handle all communication with confidentiality and discretion, except in cases where mandatory reporting is required to protect a minor or someone in immediate danger.
What should someone do if they need immediate help?
If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
